Calamites are the genus of the giant horsetail ferns that were the dominant trees of the Carboniferous era coal swamps. The track is rolling polyrhythmic techno with lots of textured percussion and hypnotic synth stabs. The acid 303 bassline was intended to reference old tech trance, but when I posted a preview after the first few sessions on facebook (which was overwhelmingly well-received) many people said it reminded them of psytrance. As a result, I reached out to Ben Rama and he brought together some excellent remixes which round out this EP and offers more dancefloor opportunities. Please have a listen and share if you like it.
